Seventeen apprentice, trainee, and graduate positions.

MidCoast Council will offer 17 new apprenticeship, traineeship, and graduate opportunities at Taree, Forster, Tuncurry, Gloucester and Bootawa to start January 2021.

Council is advertising the new positions on their website and other employment websites.

On offer are traditional trade apprenticeships in electrical, automotive, engineering, and horticulture. Additional traineeships are in water and sewer operations, aged and disability services, business administration, weed biosecurity, and civil construction design.

Opportunities also exist for a graduate chemist and two graduate planners.

It is particularly pleasing to be able to offer employment opportunities to our community at a time when we know that COVID-19 has impacted on local jobs,” said Adrian Panuccio, General Manager of MidCoast Council.

The calibre of the staff who joined this year is outstanding, so we’re looking forward to being able to find similarly suitable staff this year to help us in our mission to deliver services to the community.”

A full list of available positions can be found on Council’s website, with applications closing on Sunday 1 November, 2020.

Job offers pertain to both school leavers and more mature people looking for a career change.

These job opportunities are part of Council’s ongoing employment based training strategy and will add to the 42 trainees, apprentices and graduates we current employ,” said Mr Panuccio.

Many of last year’s cohort will progress to higher level traineeships or continue into apprenticeships in 2021 and once all of the new positions are filled, our employment based training program will represent close to six per cent of our workforce.”

Last year Council increased the number of apprenticeship, traineeship and graduate opportunities resulting in 27 new recruits joining the team at the beginning of 2020.
