Singleton Council’s Village Master Plan and Action Plan for Jerrys Plains is now a council priority.

The township and environs will get funding under the United Wambo Mine Project Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA).

The Master Plan and Action Plan includes possible options such as:

  • an upgrade program on the Golden Highway with gateway treatments (such as signs, rural fencing and street trees), landscaping and a pedestrian/cycle path
  • upgrades for the Jerrys Plains recreation grounds, with a water feature, designated camping areas to allow markets and festivals to occur, shelter over the playground, provision of exercise equipment and provision of an RV dump point
  • upgrades to the Jerrys Plains Pony Club.

The VPA will provide funding to enable some projects to be delivered, and we will actively look for other funding opportunities to see all the actions identified for Jerrys Plains to become a reality,” said Mark Ihlein, Executive Manager Projects.

Council has consulted Transport for NSW (formerly RMS) regarding the concept streetscape design for the highway through Jerrys Plains and we will follow up the possibility of a more detailed design exercise, which will include community engagement.

We also acknowledge a shade sail over the playground is a high priority project for the community and it will be undertaken in conjunction with replacing the existing playground once we have finalised the funding for the project.”

Mr Ihlein said there would be ample opportunities for members of the community to have their say.

Community involvement will be integral to seeing the Master Plan and Action Plan move forward, to make sure the projects that are delivered meet the community’s needs and vision for Jerrys Plains,” he said.

We will also establish a community committee as part of the VPA and interested residents will be informed when Expressions of Interest open to be involved.”
