Cancellation of flights by Air Pelican on Thursday (26 March) has resulted in a closure of Taree Airport terminal. The airport is open for general aviation and car hire agencies.
Closed: council operated showgrounds, council owned and managed free camping areas, parks, playgrounds, visitor information centres, libraries and customer service centres.
We will continue to monitor the situation locally and heed the advice and updates from both State and Federal Governments, as well as the Office of Local Government, as the situation progresses,” said MidCoast Council’s General Manager, Adrian Panuccio.
Mr. Panuccio reminded people that while council facilities have closed, the customer service team remain active and available for assistance over the phone.
Members of the community will be able to continue to do business with us via phone, email and online services and we have plenty of staff on hand to assist and talk you through any queries you may have.”
Other closures and suspensions of council services include:
- Council owned pools, including the YMCA operated facilities in Taree, Forster and Wingham
- Manning Entertainment Centre
- Manning Regional Art Gallery
- Council owned halls and facilities are no longer available to hire
- Annual bulky waste collections have also been suspended
Essential services such as water provision, sewer services, road maintenance and rubbish collection will continue.
The situation is changing rapidly and Council encourages everyone in the community to stay up to date by visiting www.midcoast.nsw.gov.au, and by following the Council Facebook page.
