New regular Friday food and music event lands at The Station .
Throsby reminds readers that NewcastleOnHunter derives no remuneration, honorariums, emoluments, or kickbacks when stories of a commercial nature are posted.
Not even a free Make Newcastle Great Again baseball cap.
But when a media release relates to important venues, like this one, then they’re clearly of public interest.
So it is with the former Newcastle Station, a space that was public and is now gated and, well, private – rather like a shopping mall. Though to some a waste of a perfectly good railway interchange, now the water is well and truly under the bridge, the site is superbly placed as a setting for community events.
Everyone loves a party. None more so than Throsby. It’s rumoured (he has no inclination to deny) that one of his forebears partied from midnight December 31st ceaselessly until the conclusion of the Spring Festival of the Chinese Lunar New Year, shortly after that enigmatic empire made its presence known to Western Civilisation – and just before their tea was stolen.
But he digresses…
The Station has a new Friday night – all about food, music, and having fun with the family to end the week.
Local business Tangerine Events is proud to bring its latest offering, the Friday Bar Eats n Beats event to The Station each Friday night from 4pm to 10pm.
Business owners Danielle Mayes and Nat Brown have launched the next stage of The Station’s journey, now that the Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation has taken over the site and the temporary activation.
We are really thrilled to be involved – there is nothing else like The Station in Newcastle, which is what attracted us to create an event for this amazing space,” said Dani.
Our event is about people and experiences, and we know from running Twilight Food Market Feast Fest at Speers Point Park and at Blacksmiths Beach, that good food, good music and good people make a winning combination.”
Friday finds food trucks with international cuisine, creative markets stalls, live and local music, and a kid’s zone with games for all ages.
The Station has a licensed bar with local craft beer and wine.
Friday Bar Eats n Beats is a free event and everyone is welcome! Bring your family and friends along for a relaxed evening at The Station,” said Nat.
This Friday our music line up includes Charlie Luckman, Paul Nickerson and Dynamite Duo.
We will also have some great food on hand with paella, sliders, Mexican, dumplings, Greek, Gozleme, Argentinian BBQ, Vietnamese, slow cooked meats, loaded fries, crepes, pancakes, churros and more and make sure you bring the kids as we will have a special zone for them.”
Street parking near The Station is free from 5pm. The closest carparks include Newcastle Foreshore, Bolton Street Carpark, and King Street Mall. There is also free parking at No 2 Sportsground from 5pm and the light rail runs regularly from the Interchange into the city.
